How The Internet Ruined Tattoos

The internet has ruined tattoos. It seems like every customer that comes in has some picture on their phone that they want. Most of them are exactly same picture of some trendy played out bullshit. So as artists we want to do our own thing but the customers just want the exact image from the internet and not a custom piece. Few and far between do I get to do anything I consider fun or cool. Just stars and flowers and stars with flowers. Tattoos in the past were an expression of the individuals personality or images that represented something from their life. Now tattoos seem to be more like fashion. Whatever is popular is what everyone wants. Everyone is getting the same tattoo. No one attempts to be original or even embrace what can be done with tattooing. It seems that no one wants a good tattoo. Nothing where I can show my skills. Lettering is big right now. Not getting a word but everyone wants a paragraph with tiny little letters, that in five years are going to look like shit. No one looks at that paragraph and goes wow that tattoo is fucking dope. I guess I might just be old school or out of touch with whats hip today. What happened to customers who want your best work, or people who want a dagger or an anchor. I beg future customers to look at a tattoo magazine or consider some classic tattoo designs. You will be happier in the long run.

P.S. Cool tattoos cost less
